Doulton Slaters Chiné Ware cream & sugar set


Victorian era Doulton Slaters Chiné Ware cream & sugar set. A decorating method, Chiné involved pressing linen into the still wet clay and then firing the piece whereupon the linen burnt leaving the impression of the cloth. After decorating the piece was fired again. This matching set has blue, white & gold flowers over a tan glaze. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs and very little wear to the decoration. Sugar bowl measures 3 1/8 inches high and 5 inches across at the handles. Creamer measures 3 1/2 inches tall. Based on the bottom markings these are c. 1886-1914.
